El aclamado autor Stephen King ha instado a la Academia de Artes y Ciencias de Cine de Motion a posponer la 97ª Ceremonia Anual de Premios de la Academia debido a los devastadores incendios forestales en Los Ángeles.

Según lo informado por Deadline, King declaró su abstención de la votación de los Oscar de este año y abogó por la cancelación de la ceremonia, citando la falta de atmósfera de celebración en medio de la crisis en curso. Los incendios, que comenzaron el 7 de enero, han reclamado trágicamente al menos 27 vidas y continúan furiosos.

"No votar en los Oscar este año", declaró King en un Post de Bluesky. "En mi opinión, deberían cancelarse. No hay brillo con Los Ángeles en llamas".

La Academia respondió el 13 de enero ajustando su calendario de 2025 a la luz de los incendios, pero una cancelación completa sigue sin previo aviso. El almuerzo nominado a los Oscar ha sido cancelado.

La fecha límite de votación se ha extendido al 17 de enero, con el anuncio de nominaciones reprogramado para el 23 de enero. La 97ª Ceremonia de Premios de la Academia todavía está programada para el 2 de marzo.

"Estamos profundamente tristes por el impacto de los incendios y las pérdidas significativas sufridas por muchos en nuestra comunidad", declararon el CEO Bill Kramer y la presidenta Janet Yang en respuesta a los cambios en el horario.
