Una remasterización de Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas hecha por fans aborda las deficiencias de la versión oficial. Debido a su continua popularidad, Shapatar XT creó una remasterización que incorpora 51 modificaciones.

El proyecto va más allá de simples mejoras gráficas. Shapatar XT abordó el infame problema de los "árboles voladores" mejorando la carga del mapa, brindando a los jugadores advertencias anticipadas sobre los obstáculos. La vegetación de caza también recibió importantes mejoras.

Varias modificaciones mejoran el realismo y la vitalidad del juego. Detalles como basura esparcida, NPC realizando tareas (como reparaciones de automóviles), operaciones aeroportuarias activas y señalización y graffiti mejorados contribuyen a una experiencia más inmersiva.
