As of now, there is no verified report indicating that The Hobbit: Illustrated Edition has dropped to a "record low" in price or popularity. However, if you're referring to a recent price drop on a specific platform (such as Amazon, eBay, or a bookstore), it’s possible that:
The illustrated edition (often featuring artwork by Alan Lee) has become more affordable due to high availability, reprints, or promotional sales.
Some collectors or readers might interpret a price drop as a "record low," especially if the book previously had a higher market value due to scarcity or demand.
Used or older printings may be selling at lower prices, particularly if newer editions or digital versions have entered the market.
For example, the first illustrated edition (2014, HarperCollins) has seen price fluctuations, and on platforms like Amazon, it may occasionally dip below $10—though this is not necessarily a "record low" in a historical context.
To clarify:
Check trusted sources like Amazon price history, eBay sold listings, or collector forums (e.g., r/lotr on Reddit) for accurate pricing trends.
Be cautious of "record low" claims—they may be exaggerated or based on short-term sales.
If you have a specific price point or platform in mind, I can help you verify its accuracy.
