Netflix adapte le jeu vidéo acclamé sifu dans un long métrage. Le projet, initialement annoncé en 2022 et dirigé par Story Kitchen and Sloclap (le développeur du jeu), a considérablement élargi son équipe de production, selon Deadline.

T.S. Nowlin (connu pour Maze Runner et Netflix's Project Adam ) s'est joint pour écrire le scénario. Bien que la participation de Derek Kolstad reste incertaine, il a précédemment travaillé sur l'histoire de l'adaptation. Ajoutant plus de poids à la production, Chad Stahelski (directeur de la franchise John Wick ) et sa société, 87Eleven Entertainment, serviront de producteurs exécutifs. Stahelski est également impliqué dans l'adaptation Ghost de Tsushima .

Sifu *, publié en 2022, a connu un immense succès, vendant plus d'un million d'exemplaires au cours de ses trois premières semaines. Le jeu suit la quête de la vengeance d'un jeune étudiant de Kung Fu après l'assassinat de leur maître. Un pendentif mystique permet la résurrection, mais au prix du vieillissement accéléré, ajoutant une couche unique au parcours périlleux du protagoniste.
