T.S. Nowlin (known for Maze Runner and Netflix's Project Adam) has joined to write the screenplay. While Derek Kolstad's involvement remains uncertain, he previously worked on the adaptation's story. Adding further weight to the production, Chad Stahelski (director of the John Wick franchise) and his company, 87Eleven Entertainment, will serve as executive producers. Stahelski is also involved in adapting Ghost of Tsushima.
Sifu, released in 2022, achieved immense success, selling over a million copies in its first three weeks. The game follows a young kung fu student's quest for revenge after their master's assassination. A mystical pendant allows resurrection, but at the cost of accelerated aging, adding a unique layer to the protagonist's perilous journey.
