MultiVersus presented two last characters while fans threaten game developers
MultiVersus's story is a cautionary tale for game developers, a case study in unexpected failure akin to the infamous Concord debacle. Yet, the game's final chapter is about to unfold with the addition of two highly anticipated characters: Lola Bunny and Aquaman.
This announcement, however, comes at a time of significant fan backlash. Some players have expressed their disappointment so vehemently that they've resorted to threatening the development team. MultiVersus game director, Tony Huynh, responded with a heartfelt message, pleading with players to refrain from such behavior.
Huynh offered an apology to fans whose desired characters didn't make it into the game, expressing hope that they'll still enjoy the content of the final Season 5. He explained the complexities involved in adding characters, emphasizing that his decision-making power was less extensive than some players believed.
The impending shutdown of MultiVersus has further fueled the frustration, particularly concerning the inability to spend in-game tokens on the new characters – a promised benefit for buyers of the $100 edition. This unfulfilled promise may have contributed to the escalation of threats.
