PlayStation Productions Unveils Ambitious Slate of Game Adaptations at CES 2025

PlayStation Productions made a significant splash at CES 2025, announcing a wave of new game adaptations slated for release in 2025 and beyond. The January 7th presentation showcased a diverse range of projects, spanning anime series and feature films.

New Adaptations Announced:

• Ghost of Tsushima: Legends (Anime Series): A new anime series based on the popular Ghost of Tsushima multiplayer mode, Legends, is in the works, a collaboration between Crunchyroll and Aniplex, set to premiere exclusively on Crunchyroll in 2027. Takanobu Mizumo will direct, with Gen Urobuchi handling story composition. Sony Music will contribute the soundtrack.

• Horizon Zero Dawn (Film): Sony Pictures will produce a film adaptation of Horizon Zero Dawn.

• Helldivers 2 (Film): Columbia Pictures will handle the film adaptation of Helldivers 2. Details on both films remain scarce.

• Until Dawn (Film): A film adaptation of Until Dawn is set for release on April 25, 2025.

• The Last of Us Season Two (TV Series): Neil Druckmann revealed a new trailer for the second season of The Last of Us, expanding upon the story of The Last of Us Part II, introducing characters like Abby and Dina.

Previous Adaptations and Ongoing Projects:

PlayStation Productions' success builds upon previous adaptations, including the Uncharted film (2022) starring Tom Holland and the Gran Turismo film (2023), both of which performed strongly at the box office. The Twisted Metal series (2023) on Peacock, while less critically acclaimed, completed production on its second season in late 2024, though a release date is pending.

The studio is also actively developing film adaptations of Days Gone and a sequel to the Uncharted film, along with a God of War TV series, although details on these remain limited.
