The objective of Hearts is to accumulate the lowest score by the game's conclusion. Players must follow suit (e.g., playing a Club if a Club was led). If a player lacks a card of the leading suit, they can play any other card, with the exception of Hearts or the Queen of Spades during the first trick. The highest card of the leading suit wins the trick, and the winner leads the next trick. Each Heart captured earns one point, and the Queen of Spades is worth 13 points. However, a player who "shoots the moon" (taking all Hearts and the Queen of Spades) scores zero points, while all other players receive 26 points. The game concludes when a player reaches or exceeds 100 points.
