Baldur's Gate III's Latest Patch Now in Stress Test Phase
The stress test for what may be the eighth—and possibly final—major update of Baldur's Gate III has commenced. Early access to the patch was granted to some Sony console players, but for those who prefer to wait until the official release, the developers suggest reinstalling the game to ensure optimal performance.
Patch 8 introduces several key features, with crossplay being one of the most notable. This allows players on consoles and PC to team up seamlessly. Additionally, players can invite friends from various platforms as long as both parties have linked their Larian accounts. Interestingly, modded gameplay will also support cross-platform play under specific conditions. First, all mods used by the PC player must be compatible with Mac and consoles. Second, the host’s lobby cannot exceed a double-digit number of installed mods.
In terms of multiplayer enhancements, Patch 8 is testing split-screen co-op functionality on the Xbox Series S—a welcome addition for users of this budget-friendly console, which previously lacked such capability.
Other standout updates include a highly customizable photo mode and the introduction of 12 new subclasses, adding further depth and variety to the game. While Larian has resolved numerous bugs and rebalanced certain aspects, some issues still persist. A comprehensive list of changes for the stress test can be found on the game’s official page.
