Eerie Worlds: A Tactical CCG Featuring Global Folklore Monsters

Rifts are rarely good news in games, but Avid Games has embraced the chaos in their new tactical CCG, Eerie Worlds. This highly anticipated follow-up to Cards, the Universe and Everything offers a monster-themed experience focused on fun and learning.

The game features a visually diverse roster of monsters, each inspired by real-world mythological and folkloric horrors.

From Japanese Yokai like Jikininki and Kuchisake-onna to Slavic creatures such as Vodyanoy and Psoglav, Eerie Worlds boasts a global collection of monsters. Bigfoot, Mothman, the Nandi Bear, El Chupacabra, and countless others populate the game, each accompanied by a detailed and researched description.

Four Alliances (Grimbald, Zerrofel, Rivin, and Synnig) and multiple Hordes provide significant strategic depth. Monsters share properties within their Hordes but not necessarily across Alliances, creating complex tactical possibilities.

Players build their monster collection, known as a Grimoire, by merging duplicate cards. While starting with 160 base cards, merging unlocks many more, with additional cards planned for the near future.

Avid Games plans to release two more Hordes in the coming months, ensuring long-term engagement and replayability.

Gameplay involves constructing a deck of nine monster cards and one world card. Battles unfold over nine 30-second turns, demanding strategic decisions regarding mana usage and synergy exploitation.
