GOG Resurrects Dino Crisis and Dino Crisis 2 on PC

Author : Nathan Update : Feb 23,2025

GOG resurrects the cult classic survival horror games, Dino Crisis and Dino Crisis 2, bringing them to PC in DRM-free re-releases. Both titles, originally released on PlayStation in 1999 and 2000 respectively, are now available on GOG's platform as part of their Preservation Program, ensuring the original content remains intact.

While a new Dino Crisis game or an HD remake remains a fan-fueled dream, Capcom's focus on other titles, like Exoprimal, seemingly leaves little room for a revival. Even creator Shinji Mikami acknowledged this in a statement last year.

PlayGOG's release is a significant boon for fans, as these PC ports were previously difficult to obtain and run smoothly on modern systems. GOG highlights the enhanced experience, stating that Regina's famous line, "You're extinct!", no longer applies to the games themselves.

GOG's Dino Crisis Enhancements:

  • Full Windows 10 and 11 compatibility.
  • All six original localizations (English, German, French, Italian, Spanish, and Japanese).
  • Original, Arrange, and Operation Wipe Out modes.
  • Improved DirectX renderer.
  • Enhanced rendering options (Windowed Mode, VSync, Gamma Correction, Integer Scaling, Anti-Aliasing, etc.).
  • Up to 4K (1920p) resolution and 32-bit color depth.
  • Improved geometry, transformation, and texturing.
  • Enhanced alpha transparency.
  • Improved game registry settings.
  • Bug fixes for animation, video, music, and saving (no more save file corruption).
  • Full modern controller support (DualSense, DualShock 4, Xbox Series, Xbox One, Xbox 360, Switch, Logitech F series, and more).

GOG's Dino Crisis 2 Enhancements:

  • Full Windows 10 and 11 compatibility.
  • English and Japanese localizations.
  • Inclusion of Easy difficulty, Dino Colosseum, and Dino Duel.
  • Improved DirectX renderer.
  • Enhanced rendering options (Windowed Mode, VSync, Gamma Correction, Integer Scaling, Anti-Aliasing, etc.).
  • Improved music playback and volume scaling.
  • Improved item rendering and fogging.
  • Corrected cartridge box alignment.
  • Bug fixes for video playback, task switching, and game exit.
  • Full modern controller support (DualSense, DualShock 4, Xbox Series, Xbox One, Xbox 360, Switch, Logitech F series, and more).

Furthermore, GOG launched its Dreamlist, a community voting tool allowing users to suggest games for potential revival or addition to the platform. This initiative aims to gauge community interest and facilitate the release of more classic titles.
