Bezos Polls Fans on Next James Bond Frontrunner

Following Amazon's surprising takeover of creative control for James Bond, with longtime producers Barbara Broccoli and Michael G. Wilson stepping aside, the burning question remains: Who will inherit the iconic 007 mantle?

Amazon CEO Jeff Bezos posed this question to his X/Twitter followers, and the response was overwhelmingly clear.

While names like Tom Hardy (Venom), Idris Elba (MCU), James McAvoy (Professor X), Michael Fassbender (Magneto), and rumored frontrunner Aaron Taylor-Johnson (Kraven) have circulated, one name dominated fan discussions: Henry Cavill.

Cavill quickly trended globally following Bezos' tweet, with countless Bond fans championing The Witcher and Superman star as Daniel Craig's successor.

The actor's existing ties to Amazon through their Warhammer 40,000 adaptation have fueled speculation about his Bond prospects under the new regime. Could this corporate connection secure him the role?

Cavill's Bond audition history adds intrigue - he previously tried out for 2006's Casino Royale. Director Martin Campbell praised his "tremendous" screen test, though the then-23-year-old ultimately lost out to Craig for being too youthful.

"Henry would have made an excellent Bond if Daniel hadn't been available," Campbell told The Express. "He was in phenomenal shape with terrific acting chops - just slightly too young at the time."

Cavill himself reflected: "It came down to me and Daniel. They made the perfect choice - I likely wasn't ready back then."

With the Bond franchise seeking fresh blood after No Time To Die, Campbell notes the role's demanding timeline: "A typical three-film contract spans six years. At 40, Cavill would approach 50 by the third installment - the upper limit for the physically demanding role."

While age remains a consideration, Cavill's proven action-hero credentials and existing Amazon relationship position him as a formidable contender in this new era of 007.
