Marvel Denies Using AI to Create The Fantastic Four: First Steps Posters, Despite One of Them Appearing to Show a Man With 4 Fingers
Marvel denies AI involvement in "Fantastic Four: First Steps" poster creation, despite fan speculation. The marketing campaign launched this week with a trailer teaser and several posters, one of which sparked controversy.
The poster in question shows a man seemingly missing a finger while holding a Fantastic Four flag. Further fueling speculation, fans pointed out duplicated faces, inconsistent gaze directions, and oddly proportioned limbs, all commonly associated with AI-generated images.
However, a Disney/Marvel representative told IGN that AI was not used. The four-fingered anomaly is attributed to either a finger hidden behind the flagpole (deemed improbable by many) or a simple Photoshop error. The repeated faces are suggested to be the result of common post-production techniques, such as copying and pasting background actors.
While Marvel remains silent on the specifics, the debate continues. The incident highlights the increasing scrutiny surrounding AI use in film marketing. Further assets will undoubtedly face even closer examination. The discussion continues alongside other "Fantastic Four: First Steps" coverage, including features on Galactus and Doctor Doom.
