"Nintendo Switch 2: Use Joy-Con Mouse Controls on Home Menu"
Nintendo has officially confirmed that players will be able to utilize the innovative Switch 2 Joy-Con mouse controls directly on the Home screen, a feature that has sparked considerable excitement among fans since the Nintendo Switch 2 was unveiled. Last month, we received the much-awaited confirmation that the new Joy-Con can switch into "mouse mode," allowing users to glide the controllers across surfaces and use the analog sticks to replicate left-click and right-click functions, much like a traditional mouse. The versatility of this feature is further enhanced as players can use two Joy-Con in mouse mode at once, one in each hand, or mix one in standard mode with the other in mouse mode.
Recent updates from the Nintendo Today app and shared on X/Twitter have now shed light on how these mouse controls will enhance the user experience on the Switch 2 Home menu. As demonstrated:

Nintendo detailed the process, stating, "If you place the Joy-Con 2 controller on a surface with the attachment side facing down, a cursor will appear on screen. To display the cursor, set the Joy-Con 2 on a table or flat surface and move it as shown. While using mouse controls, you can tilt the control stick to scroll through menus. Use mouse controls on the Home menu and in compatible software." To revert to thumbstick control, simply reposition the Joy-Con 2 horizontally.
While the full list of mouse-compatible games remains undisclosed, Nintendo has showcased this technology in action with the Switch 2 versions of Mario Party Jamboree, Metroid Prime 4, and the wheelchair basketball game Drag x Drive.
The highly anticipated Nintendo Switch 2 is slated for release on June 5. Pre-orders, which began on April 24, have been a hot commodity at the set price of $449.99. For more detailed information on securing your console, check out IGN's comprehensive Nintendo Switch 2 pre-order guide.
