How to Pause the Game in Monster Hunter Wilds

To pause your game, first, bring up the menu by pressing the Options button. Then, use L1 or R1 to navigate to the Systems tab. Select the "Pause Game" option by pressing the X button. This will freeze the game entirely—even mid-combat or during a hunt. To resume, simply press the Circle button or R3. This feature comes in handy when unexpected interruptions pop up in your day-to-day life.

Even if you're playing solo, you can pause the game as long as you're in single-player mode without anyone else in your lobby or party.

Can You Pause While Playing Multiplayer?

Unfortunately, pausing isn't possible in multiplayer sessions. If there’s anyone else in your lobby or linked party, the game remains active and cannot be paused. In such cases, your best bet is to move your character to a safer spot where they won’t get attacked.

Remember, since monsters have more health in multiplayer sessions, avoid going AFK for too long. Your team relies on you staying engaged!
