Scylla in Azur Lane: Class, Skills, Gear, Optimal Fleets

Author : Madison Update : May 12,2025

HMS Scylla, a Super Rare (SR) 6-star light cruiser from the Royal Navy's Dido-class in Azur Lane, was introduced during the "Revelations of Dust" event and can be obtained through limited construction. Known for her outstanding anti-air capabilities and supportive skills, Scylla is a crucial asset in various fleet compositions. This guide delves into her class, abilities, and gear requirements, helping players harness her full potential. Let's dive in!

Scylla – All Skills Explained

Like other ships in Azur Lane, Scylla boasts three distinct abilities that can be leveraged in combat to overpower enemies:

How Pathetic – With each Main Gun firing, Scylla's Firepower (FP) and Anti-Air (AA) stats increase by 1.5% (up to 5%) per stack, which can stack up to six times. When fully stacked, she provides a 15% (up to 25%) AA boost to all Vanguard ships with lower AA stats for the duration of the battle.

Scylla’s Embrace – At the start of the battle, if other ships are present in the Vanguard, Scylla's Torpedo (TRP) and Evasion (EVA) stats rise by 10% (up to 20%). When she launches torpedoes, a special barrage (damage scales with skill level) is triggered, and enemies hit by this barrage suffer 6% increased aircraft damage for 6 seconds. Additionally, if six enemy aircraft are downed within the Vanguard’s AA gun range, allied carriers (CVs and CVLs) receive a 5% (up to 15%) damage reduction while Scylla remains afloat.

All Out Assault – Scylla activates a special barrage every 15 (reducible to 10 at max level) Main Gun attacks. If equipped with a Destroyer (DD) Main Gun, the activation requirement drops to six attacks.

Gear Recommendations for Scylla

To optimize Scylla’s performance, consider these equipment recommendations:

Main Gun: A Destroyer Main Gun can accelerate the activation of her All Out Assault skill, resulting in more frequent barrages.

Torpedoes: Opt for high-damage torpedoes to leverage her torpedo efficiency and the special barrage from her “Scylla’s Embrace” skill.

Anti-Air Guns: With her high AA stat and role, equipping the best AA guns available will bolster her ability to shield the fleet from aerial threats.

Auxiliary Equipment: Items that further enhance her AA capabilities or boost her survivability, like AA radars or repair tools, are beneficial.

Class and Role in Fleets

As a Dido-class light cruiser, Scylla acts as an anti-air specialist within the Vanguard. Her skills not only enhance her own combat prowess but also provide substantial support to the fleet, especially by improving AA defenses and mitigating damage to carriers.

Best Fleet Compositions for Scylla

Scylla thrives in fleets that rely on robust anti-air support and can capitalize on her synergy with carriers. Consider the following fleet setups:

Carrier-Centric Fleets: Pairing Scylla with carriers leverages her “Scylla’s Embrace” skill to lessen incoming damage to these key units, thereby enhancing the fleet's durability.

Vanguard Combinations: Teaming Scylla with other light cruisers or destroyers with complementary skills forms a balanced Vanguard capable of effectively managing both aerial and surface threats.

In summary, HMS Scylla is a versatile light cruiser whose skills and stats make her an exceptional anti-air asset and a supportive force in diverse fleet compositions. By equipping her correctly and strategically placing her within a fleet, players can significantly boost overall performance, especially in scenarios with intense aerial opposition.
