Sony Has Good News and Bad News on PlayStation 5 Themes

Author : Grace Update : Feb 19,2025

Sony's popular PlayStation console themes for PS5 are disappearing! The limited-time PSOne, PS2, PS3, and PS4 themes will be unavailable starting February 1st, 2025. However, Sony has confirmed their return in the coming months, bringing welcome relief to nostalgic PS5 users.

In a recent tweet, Sony expressed gratitude for the overwhelmingly positive response to the themes, promising their eventual comeback after some behind-the-scenes work. The tweet also included a photo showcasing the themes.

While this is good news, Sony simultaneously announced that no further themes are currently planned for the PS5. This announcement disappointed many fans who hoped for additional themed options. The lack of themes has been a point of contention since the PS5's launch, and this statement suggests it won't change within this console generation.

The temporary themes, released to celebrate PlayStation's 30th anniversary, offered immersive visual and auditory experiences. The PSOne theme featured the classic console's image, the PS2 its unique menu design, the PS3 its wave background, and the PS4 its signature wave patterns. Each theme also incorporated the respective console's iconic startup sounds.
