The trailer showcased fast-paced, gory gameplay, featuring compact obstacle courses packed with deadly traps designed to shred a small meaty hero. Meat Boy navigates these hazards, leaving a trail of gooey residue as he slides down walls and tackles precise jumps. The shift to a 3D environment promises to transform the platforming experience, opening new paths and challenges.

Originating as a 2008 Flash game by Edmund McMillen and Jonathan McEntee, the Super Meat Boy series gained fame with its challenging yet responsive platforming and quick respawns. Its signature gore, driven by a protagonist made of raw meat who frequently meets meat grinders, has become a hallmark of the franchise.

The 2020 sequel, Super Meat Boy Forever, was developed without McMillen’s involvement. It remains uncertain whether he is contributing to this 3D iteration.

Curiously, the trailer opened with a green Mario warp pipe, despite no Nintendo console announcement for Super Meat Boy 3D and the reveal occurring at an Xbox event. No clarification has been provided for this oddity.
