Tony Hawk Aims for Underground Remake
If you've been yearning for a revival of Tony Hawk's Underground, you're in good company. Tony Hawk himself is actively "campaigning" for a remake of the beloved title.
"I always have aspirations," Hawk shared with ScreenRant. "It's not up to me generally. I'll campaign all I can, but I'm working with a much bigger company that's a lot smarter than me."
When questioned about Activision's plans post the release of Tony Hawk's Pro Skater 3 + 4, Hawk remained tight-lipped, stating, "We haven't even released this game [yet]!"
Originally released in 2003, Tony Hawk's Underground received an impressive 9.2 review score from us at the time, praised for its "virtually flawless" level design and "stellar gameplay." It marked a groundbreaking moment in the series by allowing players to explore expansive levels on foot, not just on their skateboards.
Tony Hawk's Pro Skater 3 + 4 is scheduled to launch on Nintendo Switch 2, Nintendo Switch, PC, PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, Xbox Series X and S, and Xbox One on July 11, 2025. Activision is curating the official THPS 3 + 4 playlist on Spotify, which they will update as they unveil more of the song list. You can find out the latest in our full soundtrack list right here.
"In an era where countless early 2000s games are receiving modern makeovers, Tony Hawk's Pro Skater 3 + 4 is poised to be a standout addition to a year brimming with top-notch remakes and remasters," we noted in IGN's Tony Hawk's Pro Skater 3 + 4 first impressions preview.
"From its faithful recreation of the elements that made the PS2-era classics so iconic, to its modern quality of life enhancements, excellent soundtrack, and heartfelt tribute to the series' early days, Tony Hawk's Pro Skater 3 + 4 is a must-watch for fans of skateboarding, enthusiasts of action sports games, or anyone seeking a game that's simply fun and engaging. It might just be the easiest kickflip you'll land this year."
