Veilguard Has No Denuvo DRM Because They \"Trust You\"

BioWare delivers both good and bad news for Dragon Age: The Veilguard. The game will launch without Denuvo DRM, but PC players will miss out on preloading.

BioWare's Michael Gamble announced on Twitter (X) that Dragon Age: The Veilguard will not utilize Denuvo anti-piracy software on PC. This decision, driven by trust in their players, is a welcome relief for many who often associate Denuvo with performance issues. The absence of Denuvo has been met with positive feedback from the gaming community.

Gamble also confirmed that Veilguard will not require always-online functionality. However, this no-DRM approach means no preload option for PC players. This is a potential drawback, especially considering the game's substantial 100GB storage requirement. Console players, however, can preload the game. Xbox early access players can install now; PlayStation early access begins October 29th.

BioWare also unveiled the system requirements. High-end PCs can leverage ray tracing and uncapped frame rates. Minimum specs prioritize accessibility. Consoles (PlayStation 5 & Xbox Series X|S) offer fidelity and performance modes, targeting 30 and 60 FPS respectively. To fully utilize ray tracing on PC, you'll need at least an Intel Core i9 9900K or AMD Ryzen 7 3700X CPU, 16GB RAM, and an Nvidia RTX 3080 or AMD Radeon 6800XT GPU.
