Zhang Jiao Falls in "Dynasty Warriors: Origins"
Conquering Zhang Jiao in Dynasty Warriors: Origins: A Comprehensive Guide
One of the initial hurdles in Dynasty Warriors: Origins is the battle against Zhang Jiao, leader of the Yellow Turbans. This guide provides a detailed strategy for victory.
Phase 1: A Solo Showdown
This phase is a one-on-one duel in a spacious wasteland. Zhang Jiao utilizes sorcery, launching stones across the arena. His attacks vary based on your distance:
- Close Range: Four stones are summoned, demanding swift evasion.
- Long Range: Eight stones are launched in pairs, easily dodged by circling him.
Maintain a safe distance when he summons a large volley of stones to avoid significant damage. While his attacks primarily keep you at bay, he also employs close-range combos (parryable) and an area-of-effect (AOE) pushback attack. A white glow signals his AOE charge; evade promptly.
Later, he unleashes red-aura attacks (uncancelable), including a massive rockfall and clone summoning. The best counter is to maintain distance until the attack concludes. Equip a sword for optimal damage output.
Resource Management: Monitor your health. You likely have limited healing opportunities (around four, depending on skill upgrades). Meat buns are strategically located near the arena entrance; utilize them during recovery periods.
Phase 2: Aided Assault
Unlocking Musou Rage initiates Phase 2, where the Yellow Turbans join the fray. Fortunately, your army arrives as reinforcements, providing respite. This is an ideal time to replenish your health using the meat buns. Zhang Jiao summons tornadoes; be mindful of the wind to avoid being thrown off balance.
Defeat enough soldiers to trigger Zhang Jiao's Grand Tactic. You must eliminate 300 soldiers within a short timeframe to avoid a devastating attack. Simultaneously, Zhang Jiao unleashes lightning strikes. Observe the ground for a closing ring; evade when it flashes. Musou Mode (basic, not Rage) is highly effective for quickly eliminating large numbers of soldiers.
Foiling Zhang Jiao's Grand Tactic twice brings him back to the battlefield with Phase 1 tactics. With your army's support, eliminating his remaining health should be straightforward, concluding Chapter 1.
Victory Achieved!
This strategy will guide you to victory over Zhang Jiao in Dynasty Warriors: Origins, now available on PS5, PC, and Xbox Series X/S.
