El jefe de DC Studios, James Gunn, ha anunciado oficialmente que la temporada 2 de Peacemaker se estrenará en Max el 21 de agosto . Junto con esta emocionante noticia, Gunn compartió un breve clip de nuevas imágenes, con John Cena en acción. En una escena, el personaje de Cena, pacificador, sonríe a la cámara en medio de un telón de llamas, y se lo conoce como "un superhéroe ahora".

En un tweet, Gunn expresó su entusiasmo, declarando: "Contando los días hasta Peace on Earth. Acabo de terminar el DI y la mezcla en el estreno de la temporada ayer y wow, es una de mis cosas favoritas. La temporada 2 de #PeAcemaker de DC Studios llegará pronto solo en @streamonmax el 21 de agosto".

La temporada 2 de Peacemaker sigue de cerca desde el lanzamiento del 11 de julio de Superman , marcando el lanzamiento de la pantalla grande del Reiniciado Universo DC de Gunn (DCU). Será la tercera entrada en este nuevo universo cinematográfico, que tendrá éxito en la serie de televisión de criaturas del año pasado y la próxima película de Superman .

Gunn y el co-CEO Peter Safran están alejando a la DCU del Criticizado Universo Extended DC (DCEU), que incluía películas como Justice League , Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice y Man of Steel . A pesar de este cambio, persistirán ciertos elementos de la DCEU, siendo Peacemaker un excelente ejemplo. Si bien la temporada 1 fue parte del ahora desaparecido DCEU, la temporada 2 estará completamente integrada en la nueva DCU.

Gunn ha asegurado a los fanáticos que "muchos hilos seguirán siendo consistentes en lo que respecta a la historia de Peacemaker", aunque es específico sobre lo que la transición de la DCE a la DCU permanece sin revelarse. Confirmó que todo el Peacemaker del equipo regresará con el mismo elenco, incluido John Cena como pacificador, Frank Grillo como Rick Flag Sr., Freddie Stroma como Adrian Chase y Danielle Brooks como Leota Adebayo.

Además, Gunn mencionó que la temporada 2 de Peacemaker se establecerá después de los eventos de criaturas Comandos y Superman , con los eventos de este último que afectan directamente la historia de Peacemaker.
