NetEase Games and Naked Rain's previously enigmatic Project Mugen has officially been revealed as Ananta, accompanied by a new PV and teaser trailer. The urban, open-world RPG offers a glimpse into its expansive world, diverse characters, and the looming threat of chaotic forces.

The preview video showcases Nova City, a sprawling metropolis ripe for exploration. Players will encounter a colorful cast of characters while battling beings from beyond. While comparisons to MiHoYo's titles, particularly Zenless Zone Zero, are inevitable, Ananta distinguishes itself, especially in its fluid movement system. The game promises a blend of charming characters and dynamic combat, a popular formula in the 3D RPG genre.

Impressive Movement and Exploration

The PV highlights impressive character movement. Whether this translates to seamless traversal across Nova City's streets and rooftops, akin to Spider-Man, remains to be seen. The extent of the instancing within the cityscape is yet to be confirmed.

While similarities to MiHoYo's Genshin Impact are apparent, Ananta aims to carve its own niche in the crowded 3D gacha RPG market. Its success hinges on its ability to stand out and potentially challenge the current genre leaders.
