Assassin's Creed Shadows: Free Updates and DLC Details Revealed

Ubisoft has unveiled its comprehensive roadmap for the first year of post-launch content for Assassin's Creed Shadows, promising a wealth of new features and updates to keep players engaged throughout 2025. This detailed plan was shared in a succinct four-and-a-half-minute video, which breaks down the upcoming content, starting with specific releases planned for May and June.

The first free story add-on, The Works of Luis Frois, will be available in early May, accompanied by a Codex update and several quality-of-life enhancements. Players can also look forward to substantial parkour additions and a photo mode update next month. Ubisoft emphasizes its commitment to community feedback, ensuring that these updates reflect the desires and suggestions of its player base.

"Your feedback has been a core focus of the team throughout development, and that's not stopping now that Shadows is released," said community developer Daniel St. Germain in the video. He highlighted that regular title updates will bring impactful additions, changes based on player feedback, and necessary bug fixes to enhance the experience across all platforms.

In June, fans can expect another free story drop along with new, more challenging difficulty settings, enhanced gameplay immersion options, an open-world alarm system, and the choice to keep headgear on or off during cutscenes. Ubisoft plans to introduce even more features before the year ends, including new game+ support, additional story content, and special collaborations.

The most anticipated addition to the post-launch roadmap is the first major DLC expansion, Claws of Awaji, set to release later in 2025. This expansion will feature new content, including the Bo staff weapon and a new region for protagonists Naoe and Yasuke to explore, offering around 10 hours of gameplay. While pricing details are yet to be disclosed, those who pre-ordered Assassin's Creed Shadows will receive this expansion for free.
