Avowed: All Playable Races Revealed

Avowed, the exciting new RPG from Obsidian Entertainment, expands upon the rich fantasy world of Eora, first introduced in the Pillars of Eternity series. While Eora boasts a diverse array of races, Avowed's character creator offers a more curated selection. Let's explore the playable races available at launch.

Humans (Folk)

Humans, or Folk as they're known in-game, are the most common race in Avowed and are well-represented in the character creator. As part of the broader Kith classification, Humans offer extensive customization options. Expect a wide variety of facial presets, a comprehensive skin tone slider, and numerous hairstyles and textures, providing ample choices for creating a unique character.

Elves

Elves are another playable race in Avowed. Visually similar to Humans, they are distinguished by subtly different facial structures and, of course, their characteristic long, pointed ears.

Godlikes

While all Envoys in the game's narrative are Godlikes, players can choose to incorporate or omit Godlike features in their character creation. These features include unique hairstyles and facial structures, ranging from subtle to strikingly otherworldly. At launch, Avowed offers 14 Godlike facial features and four distinct hairstyles, available to all characters regardless of race or body type.

Character Customization: Body Types and Gender

Avowed provides four body types: two masculine and two feminine options, available for both Humans and Elves. Players can also select from two masculine and two feminine voice options, and choose a character identifier (he/him, she/her, or they/them) impacting pronoun usage throughout the game.

Unplayable Races

While Avowed showcases a diverse range of NPCs from various Kith races (including Dwarves, the semiaquatic Aumaua, and the diminutive, hairy Orlans), these races are currently not playable. However, future updates or DLC might expand the character creator's options.
