Dawnwalker's Gameplay, Story Debut in Unveiling
The Blood of Dawnwalker: A Dark Fantasy RPG Unveiled
Rebel Wolves recently showcased their upcoming open-world dark fantasy action-RPG, The Blood of Dawnwalker, at a game reveal event. This narrative-driven game plunges players into the role of Coen, a Dawnwalker – a being existing between human and vampire – in the fictional 14th-century European land of Vale Sangora.
Coen's Journey:
The reveal trailer introduces Coen, a protagonist described as emotional and vulnerable, facing the ancient vampire Brencis, who has subjugated Vale Sangora. Coen's mission: save his family within a 30-day/night timeframe (though the game's time flow is non-linear). The trailer hints at Coen's superhuman abilities stemming from his vampiric nature, including enhanced agility and magical prowess.
Dawnwalkers and Magic:
According to the game's FAQ on Discord, Dawnwalkers are unique beings, neither fully human nor fully vampire. The game's magic system is grounded in the occult, focusing on rituals, amulets, and summonings, rather than flashy spellcasting.
A Narrative Sandbox:
Despite Coen's central quest, The Blood of Dawnwalker promises a narrative sandbox experience. Players will have significant agency, impacting the story's progression through their choices. The game will be non-linear, with the world dynamically responding to player decisions. To maintain this single-player focus, there will be no multiplayer or co-op modes. However, romanceable characters, including various races like uriashi and kobolds, are planned.
Development and Release:
Developed by Rebel Wolves, a studio comprised of former CD Projekt Red developers, The Blood of Dawnwalker is slated for release on PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X|S. A specific release date is yet to be announced.
