Epic Games Offers Free Download on January 16

Escape Academy, a highly-rated escape-room style puzzle game, is the Epic Games Store's free game offering for January 16th, 2025. This marks the fourth free game offered by the EGS in 2025.

This free giveaway, lasting a full week until January 23rd, is particularly timely for Xbox Game Pass subscribers, as Escape Academy is leaving the service on January 15th. While previously offered as a free mystery game on EGS on January 1st, 2024, this is the first time it's available for a full week.

Developed by Coin Crew Games, Escape Academy challenges players to master escape rooms as students of the titular academy. Boasting a "Strong" rating on OpenCritic (80 average score, 88% recommendation), it's set to be the highest-rated free EGS game of 2025 so far. Positive player reviews across Steam, PlayStation, and Xbox stores further solidify its appeal. The game supports both solo play and highly praised online/split-screen co-op multiplayer.

The Epic Games Store's January 2025 free game lineup currently includes:

Following Escape Academy, the fifth free game of the year will be announced on January 16th. Players who enjoy Escape Academy can also purchase two DLC packs: Escape From Anti-Escape Island and Escape From the Past, available individually for $9.99 or as a Season Pass for $14.99.
