God of War Devs' New Sci-Fi IP Rumors Swell

Glauco Longhi, a seasoned character artist and game developer known for his work on the God of War series, has sparked intrigue by suggesting that Santa Monica Studio is developing a new game IP. This revelation comes from Longhi's LinkedIn profile, where he disclosed rejoining the studio earlier this year to lead character development on an "unannounced project."

Longhi's journey with Santa Monica Studio began with God of War (2018), where he eventually rose to the role of lead character artist for God of War Ragnarok. His return to the studio was motivated by an opportunity to oversee the "character development pipeline" for this mysterious new project.

"Supervising/Directing Character development on an unannounced project, and also helping the studio to continually push and raise the bar on Character Development for videogames," Longhi proudly stated on his updated LinkedIn profile.

Adding fuel to the speculation, Cory Barlog, the creative director of the 2018 God of War reboot, previously mentioned that the studio was engaged in a variety of projects. Longhi's profile further reveals that Santa Monica Studio is currently on a hiring spree, specifically seeking a character artist and tools programmer, indicating a ramp-up in development efforts.

Rumors are swirling that this new project could be a sci-fi IP, potentially spearheaded by Stig Asmussen, the creative force behind God of War 3. While these rumors have yet to be substantiated, the excitement is palpable. Earlier this year, Sony filed a trademark for "Intergalactic The Heretic Prophet," yet no further details have been forthcoming from the company. Additionally, whispers of a previous PS4 project that might have explored the sci-fi genre surfaced a few years back, though it was rumored to have been canceled.

Stay tuned as more details emerge about this thrilling new venture from Santa Monica Studio.
