Hextech Chest Returns to League of Legends Following Fan Outcry
Exciting news for League of Legends enthusiasts: Hextech Chests are making a triumphant return following an overwhelming response from the community. Dive in to discover the latest updates and what's on the horizon for LoL.
League of Legends Reverses Unpopular Decisions
Hextech Chests Make a Comeback
Riot Games has announced the return of Hextech Chests in League of Legends (LoL) after listening to fan feedback. A detailed developer update was posted on their official website on February 27, 2025, accompanied by a video on their YouTube channel.
LoL acknowledged that recent changes didn't meet fan expectations, stating, "Recently, we’ve made a number of changes that didn’t hit the mark for everyone. We’ve been listening to your feedback, and it’s clear that there are areas where we need to adjust."
The community's attachment to Hextech Chests was evident, as LoL explained, "It’s clear that for many of you, Hextech Chests weren’t just a way to get stuff, they were an important part of making your time in League feel rewarding. We didn’t fully grasp how much this mattered to you, and that led us to make changes that missed the mark."
Starting with patch 25.05, players can once again earn up to 10 Hextech Chests and keys per act. Eight of these will be available through the free pass, with the remaining two obtainable through the Honor system.
Exalted Mordekaiser Delay and Additional Fan-Driven Changes
Riot Games also announced a delay for the upcoming Exalted Mordekaiser skin, as the team aims to "take more time to make sure it better delivers on its core fantasy." This delay extends to the entire Exalted skin line, meaning fans won't see a new Exalted skin in every Act this year as initially planned.
In response to further fan feedback, LoL will replace one of the non-Prestige skins with 25 Mythic Essence. This change addresses concerns about the scarcity of Mythic Essence in the paid Pass and the frequency of new champion skins.
To enhance accessibility, LoL will reduce the Blue Essence cost for all champions by 50% starting with patch 25.05, following discussions about Blue Essence and champion shards.
Additionally, Riot Games is reversing their decision to reduce the frequency of Clash events. They will reinstate the monthly schedule, starting with an ARURF Clash in March, followed by a standard Summoner's Rift Clash in April.
Return of Blue Essence Emporium and Your Shop
Responding to community requests, LoL will bring back the beloved Blue Essence Emporium and Your Shop. Your Shop is scheduled to return in patch 25.06, with the Emporium following in patch 25.07.
Riot Games emphasized their commitment to ongoing improvement, stating, "We know getting League to the right place isn’t about just one set of changes. It’s about continually refining and improving the game in ways that make it better. We think today’s updates are an important step, and we’ll keep tracking how these changes feel, talking with all of you about how things are landing, and making adjustments."
Riot Games' responsiveness to fan feedback showcases their dedication to creating a game that resonates with their audience. League of Legends remains available to play for free on PC. Stay updated with the latest LoL news on our dedicated League of Legends page.
