Monster Hunter Wilds Sees Sharp Player Drop, MH World Closes Gap

Monster Hunter Wilds’ player numbers have significantly declined, nearing the levels of MH World. Discover more about the drop in MH Wilds’ player base and its upcoming collaboration.
Monster Hunter Wilds’ Player Numbers Plummet
From Over 1 Million to 40,000

Monster Hunter Wilds (MH Wilds), a major release this year, became Capcom’s fastest-selling title. Yet, three months post-launch, its concurrent player count has dropped sharply from its initial success.
YouTuber Zenny noted that MH Wilds’ concurrent players halved since May, approaching the numbers of the older MH World. SteamDB data shows MH Wilds with a 24-hour peak of 41,101 players, compared to MH World’s 26,479 at the time of writing.
In its third month on Steam, MH World maintained over 100,000 concurrent players, far exceeding MH Wilds’ roughly 40,000 in the same period. Many players cite a lack of engaging endgame content, despite Title Update 1, as a key factor. The upcoming second Title Update this summer could revitalize the game with new monsters, events, and features.
MH Wilds x Street Fighter Collaboration Teased
A potential collaboration with Capcom’s Street Fighter could draw players back. On May 19, Monster Hunter’s Twitter (X) account shared an image of a paw mark styled after Street Fighter 6’s urban aesthetic.
While unconfirmed, a crossover seems plausible given past collaborations, like MH World’s Ryu and Sakura armor sets, paid DLC gestures like Hadoken and Shoryuken, and the Handler’s Chun-Li Costume.

This marks MH Wilds’ first collaboration, sparking excitement about Capcom’s approach to the crossover. The Monster Hunter series has a history of diverse partnerships, including Devil May Cry and Sonic for MH4, Animal Crossing and Fire Emblem for MH Gen U, and Assassin’s Creed and Mega Man for MH World, among others.
With upcoming updates and events planned, MH Wilds’ player base is expected to rebound. Monster Hunter Wilds is available on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC. Stay updated with the latest MH Wilds news in our article below!
