Ninja Gaiden 2 Black Update: New Game Plus and More Added
Team Ninja has rolled out an extensive update for Ninja Gaiden 2 Black, elevating the game to version 1.0.7.0. This patch introduces highly anticipated features like New Game Plus and Photo Mode, along with a host of other enhancements and fixes. It's now available on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X and S, and PC via Steam and the Microsoft Store.
New Game Plus offers players the chance to dive back into the action with all previously unlocked weapons and Ninpo, albeit starting at Level 1. This feature allows you to choose any difficulty you've already conquered but doesn't permit jumping directly into a higher difficulty.
Quality of life improvements also include the option to hide the projectile weapon on your character's back. This can be toggled in the Game Settings under the Options menu, giving players more control over their visual experience.
In terms of game balance, Team Ninja has adjusted enemy health in specific chapters, reducing it in Chapter 8 and Chapter 11, and increasing the number of enemies in Chapter 13 and Chapter 14. Additionally, some of Ayane's attacks now deal more damage, enhancing her effectiveness in combat.
The patch also addresses various bugs, particularly those affecting gameplay on high-performance PCs, game-breaking issues in certain chapters, and other minor glitches. You can find the complete list of patch notes below.
Ninja Gaiden 2 Black was initially unveiled during the January Xbox Developer Direct as a revamped edition of the iconic action game, now powered by Unreal Engine 5. This upgrade not only improves graphical fidelity but also introduces new playable characters and enhances battle mechanics.
IGN's review awarded Ninja Gaiden 2 Black an 8/10, noting that while the game may feature fewer but tougher enemies compared to the definitive version, it stands as a beautiful and substantial improvement over its Sigma 2 predecessor, maintaining its status as an exceptional action game.
