"Omori Digital Release Only in Europe"

Meridiem Games, Omori's European publisher, has announced the cancellation of the game's physical release for Nintendo Switch and PS4 in Europe. The publisher cited technical challenges related to multilingual European localization as the reason for the cancellation.

Delays Leading to Cancellation

The physical release faced multiple setbacks. Initially slated for March 2023, the release was postponed to December 2023, then March 2024, and finally to January 2025. These repeated delays ultimately led to the cancellation, leaving pre-order customers disappointed. While Meridiem Games offered little further explanation beyond the initial announcement, the complexities of handling multiple European languages likely contributed significantly to the issues.

The cancellation is particularly disheartening for European fans, as it prevents an official release in Spanish and other local languages. While the game remains available digitally, obtaining a physical copy now requires importing a US version.

Omori, an RPG centered around Sunny, a young boy coping with trauma, blends reality and dreamscapes. Released on PC in December 2020, it expanded to Switch, PS4, and Xbox in 2022. However, the Xbox version was subsequently removed due to a past controversy involving an inappropriate T-shirt design. This cancellation further limits access for European fans seeking a physical copy of the critically acclaimed game.
