Xbox Backs Nintendo Switch 2, Spencer Commends Partnership

Following the Nintendo Switch 2 reveal, Microsoft's gaming division confirms its longstanding partnership with Nintendo will continue. Xbox head Phil Spencer reinforced his commitment to the Switch platform, viewing it as key to reaching players outside Microsoft's ecosystem.

Xbox Commits to Switch 2 Support

In a Variety interview, Spencer confirmed Xbox's plans to support Nintendo's next console just as it has with the current Switch. "Nintendo's been a great partner," Spencer stated. "Their platform helps us connect with players who aren't on Xbox or PC—expanding our community for the franchises we care about."

The executive emphasized Nintendo's industry impact: "I strongly believe in Nintendo's role in gaming. Supporting them—and receiving their support for our franchises—is crucial to our future."

Multi-Platform Strategy Remains Priority

Spencer previously praised Nintendo's innovation following the Switch 2 teaser, while reaffirming Xbox's multi-platform approach covering PlayStation, Steam, and Nintendo consoles. However, when asked if Nintendo's announcement pressured Xbox to reveal its own hardware plans sooner, Spencer remained unfazed.

"Not at all," he responded. "Our focus stays on serving our community. While I admire other creators and platforms, I'm confident in our roadmap." The executive reiterated Xbox's commitment to delivering games across cloud, PC, and consoles.

With titles like Pentiment and Grounded already on Switch, industry watchers await news of Xbox games coming to Switch 2 post-launch.
