"Pirates Outlaws 2: Heritage Hits Mobile Soon"
Among the most eagerly awaited releases I covered last year, one standout is the upcoming Pirates Outlaws 2: Heritage. The original Pirates Outlaws was a stylish, swashbuckling roguelike deckbuilder that hit the scene when the genre was still relatively fresh. Its sequel, slated for a Q3 release this year, promises to take fans back to the high seas of New Elysia for another thrilling adventure.
In Pirates Outlaws 2: Heritage, players will embark on a voyage by selecting a character, class ability, and starting deck. The game introduces a range of new elements, including multiple characters with seven class options each, allowing for extensive deck customization. Players can even recruit an animal companion, adding strategic depth to battles. With enhanced turn-based combat and a new card evolution tree, players will have an arsenal of tools at their disposal to conquer the seas.
Run out the guns
Pirates Outlaws 2: Heritage promises to be a significantly expanded sequel, offering players the freedom to roam back and forth across the map. It introduces even more permutations and combinations of cards and characters. For those on PC, an upcoming Steam demo will be the first opportunity to experience the game firsthand.
However, one concern I have is the animations shown in the reveal trailer, which seem a bit static. While fully animating these illustrations is undoubtedly challenging, I hope the final release will feature more dynamic effects when it launches on mobile later this year.
