Pokémon Legends: Z-A Release Date Set, July Presents Announced
The Pokémon Company has officially announced that the much-anticipated Pokémon Legends: Z-A and its Nintendo Switch 2 Edition will launch on October 16, 2025, with preorders starting on June 5.
A new Pokémon Presents broadcast is scheduled for July 22, promising the latest news and updates from the Pokémon world. In addition, the Pokémon Center is now offering brand-new Mega Evolution merchandise.
Purchasers of either the physical or digital Nintendo Switch version of Pokémon Legends: Z-A can upgrade to the Nintendo Switch 2 Edition by acquiring a $10 upgrade pack from the Nintendo eShop or My Nintendo Store. The Switch 2 Edition will feature enhanced visuals and improved frame rates.
The official box art has also been revealed, depicting the main characters and their partner Pokémon in a night-time battle against a Mega-Evolved Pokémon in Lumiose City.
Here is the official description:
Pokémon Legends: Z-A represents a new direction for the Pokémon video game series, combining an RPG narrative set entirely within one city with action elements and a real-time battle system unlike any previous title. Trainers can embark on a fresh adventure in Lumiose City—a story crafted by the bonds between people and Pokémon!

As part of a broader celebration spotlighting fan-favorite Mega-Evolved Pokémon, fans can anticipate a range of Mega Evolution-themed products and experiences. Throughout the year, the Pokémon Center will roll out new apparel, accessories, plush toys, and more featuring these Mega-Evolved Pokémon.
Starting today, collectors can obtain oversized pins of Mega Charizard X and Mega Charizard Y, as well as shop from a curated capsule collection of apparel and accessories showcasing Mega Venusaur, Mega Gengar, Mega Lucario, and other Mega Evolutions.

Beginning next month, customers in the U.S., Canada, or the U.K. who preorder Pokémon Legends: Z-A through the Pokémon Center will receive a random Pokémon Sitting Cuties plush—featuring either Chikorita, Tepig, or Totodile—as a complimentary gift with their purchase.
Pokémon Legends: Z-A was initially revealed during last year's Pokémon Presents, with a cinematic trailer presenting a futuristic Lumiose City. At that time, details were minimal, confirming only a Nintendo Switch release within the year and offering a few light teases. A more extensive look was provided in a Pokémon Direct earlier this year, displaying many of the available Pokémon, introducing new characters, and showing the protagonist traversing the city's rooftops.
