Despite the high demand for a trading feature in Pokémon TCG Pocket, its initial launch has not met player expectations, leading to a lukewarm reception. In response, the developers are actively working on reworking the trading system. As a gesture to players during this transition, Pokémon TCG Pocket is set to distribute 1000 Trade Tokens to all players through the in-game Gifts menu. These tokens are essential for card trading within the game.

Previously, the team announced plans to adjust the trading mechanics and make the required trading currency more accessible. Players have expressed frustration over the current restrictions, such as the limitation to trade only cards of specific rarities and the necessity of using a special currency for trading.

In my view, the developers had two clear options to sidestep these issues: implement a completely open trading system or forgo trading entirely. While they are correct in pointing out the potential for exploitation by bots and other means, the current trading currency and card limitations might only serve as a minor hurdle for those determined to bypass them.

Here's hoping that the upcoming rework of the trading system addresses these concerns effectively. A well-executed trading feature in a digital TCG could significantly enhance its appeal as a viable alternative to the physical version of the game.
