Nestled in the northern reaches of Reaper's Coast, Bloodmoon Island is a mysterious locale shrouded in enigma and Deathfog. This dense, lethal mist cuts off the island from the mainland, and with its connecting bridge destroyed, reaching it seems an insurmountable challenge. Yet, venturing to Bloodmoon Island is crucial for deepening the main storyline and unlocking additional side quests in Divinity: Original Sin 2.

The game can leave players puzzled about navigating the Deathfog to reach Bloodmoon Island, prompting a search across Reaper's Coast for clues. Here's a comprehensive guide on how to access Bloodmoon Island and advance the story.

Spirit Vision Shows The Way

Originally, Bloodmoon Island was accessible via a bridge from the Reaper's Coast mainland, located northeast of Cloisterwood and near the haunts of Jahan and Witch Alice. However, this bridge now lies in ruins, with its segments scattered and some parts trapped, making a straightforward crossing difficult.

Upon reaching the bridge, you'll also find the Driftwood Fields waypoint. Here, casting Spirit Vision will unveil the broken sections of the bridge, guiding you across. With the right tools or skills, traversing this ghostly bridge becomes manageable:

  1. Gloves of Teleportation: Obtainable in the first act, these gloves allow teleportation without needing the skill. Though time-consuming, they enable you to teleport each party member across the bridge.
  2. Translocation Skills: Skills like Phoenix Dive, Cloak and Dagger, and Tactical Retreat offer teleportation capabilities, ideal for navigating the broken bridge. However, not all party members may possess these skills, so consider alternative methods.
  3. Teleporter Pyramids: With four pyramids available in the game, you can use two to cross the bridge. Place one in a companion's inventory, have them cross using translocation, and then warp the rest of the party to their location.
  4. Fast Travel: If a companion with translocation skills crosses the bridge and discovers the Bloodmoon Island waypoint, the rest of the party can fast travel to join them, bypassing the bridge entirely.

Take The Ferry Across The Deathfog

For parties including Fane, an additional method to reach Bloodmoon Island exists. As an undead, Fane is impervious to the Deathfog. Northwest of Cloisterwood, an undead ferryman offers passage across the Deathfog to the island. However, this passage is treacherous; only Fane can survive the journey unscathed. If Fane takes the ferry alone, he can safely reach Bloodmoon Island, discover its waypoint, and allow the rest of the party to fast travel there.

Taking The Ferry Without Fane In The Party

If your party doesn't include Fane but you still want to use the ferry, you'll need at least two Teleporter Pyramids:

  1. Separate the party and place a Teleporter Pyramid in the inventory of the companion who will board the ferry.
  2. Once the ferry reaches Bloodmoon Island, the companion will die upon arrival.
  3. With the remaining party members, use the second pyramid to teleport to the deceased companion.
  4. Revive the fallen companion with a resurrection spell or scroll.

For parties without Fane, taking the bridge is the safest and quickest way to reach Bloodmoon Island.

It's crucial not to attack the Undead Ferryman, as he can unleash a Deathfog spell, instantly killing anyone nearby. If you decide to challenge him, make sure to quick save beforehand. Defeating him yields a Soothing Cold skillbook, an ordinary belt, and 3,750 XP.
