Rumored PlayStation Exclusive Borrows from Smash Bros. Inspiration
A PlayStation studio, recently formed from a group of former Bungie employees, is reportedly developing a MOBA titled "Gummy Bears." Initially conceived at Bungie, this project has undergone a significant shift, now under the direction of a new Sony subsidiary.
This unique MOBA is rumored to deviate from traditional health bar mechanics, instead adopting a percentage-based damage system reminiscent of the Super Smash Bros. franchise. Characters will be knocked back further based on damage percentage, ultimately leading to elimination when the percentage reaches a critical point.
The game is said to feature three character classes—Attack, Defense, and Support—along with multiple game modes. Its visual style is described as cozy, vibrant, and "lo-fi," a stark contrast to Bungie's previous titles. This stylistic choice aims to attract a younger audience than the studio's typical demographic.
Development on Gummy Bears reportedly began in 2020, spanning at least three years. While its release date remains uncertain, the project's transfer to a new PlayStation studio suggests it may still be several years from launch.
