Elliot Page's Pageboy Productions to Adapt Quantic Dream's Beyond: Two Souls into a TV Series
Elliot Page, the original star of Quantic Dream's Beyond: Two Souls, is spearheading a television adaptation of the acclaimed PlayStation adventure game. Pageboy Productions has secured the rights from Quantic Dream, embarking on a project currently in its early development stages.
According to Deadline, the series aims to retain the game's signature non-linear narrative structure. While specific details regarding casting and release dates remain undisclosed, Page expressed his enthusiasm to Deadline, calling his involvement in the original game "one of the most challenging and fulfilling acting experiences" of his career. He emphasized the intention to create a compelling adaptation that resonates with both existing fans and new audiences.
Matt Jordan Smitt, head of development and production at Pageboy, highlighted the team's commitment to honoring the game's legacy while injecting fresh perspectives. He underscored the narrative's exploration of survival and the profound impact of pivotal decisions.
Originally released for PlayStation 3 in 2013, Beyond: Two Souls later saw releases on PlayStation 4 (2015) and PC (2019). The game, directed and written by David Cage, follows Jodie Holmes, a young woman with psychic abilities connected to a spirit named Aiden. Its non-linear storytelling and star-studded cast, including Page and Willem Dafoe, garnered significant attention.
David Cage, Quantic Dream's director, confirmed his collaboration with Page on the television adaptation, though the specifics of his involvement remain unclear. He expressed his confidence in Page's ability to translate the emotional depth of the story to a new medium.
While a premiere date is yet to be announced, IGN's original review of the game can be found here, along with a compilation of all Quantic Dream game reviews here.
