This tier list ranks AFK Journey characters based on versatility, overall performance in PvE, Dream Realm, and PvP. Note that many characters are viable, but some excel in high-level endgame content.

S-Tier Characters

Lily May, a highly versatile Wilder character, is a must-have, excelling in damage, utility, and countering Eironn teams. Thoran remains the best F2P tank, even with Phraesto's availability. Reinier is a top-priority support for both PvE and PvP. Koko and Smokey & Meerky are essential supports for most game modes, while Odie shines in Dream Realm and PvE. Eironn, with Damien and Arden, forms a dominant Arena team. Tasi, a powerful Wilder crowd control character, excels in most modes. Harak, a powerful late-game Hypogean/Celestial warrior, is difficult for F2P players to obtain.

A-Tier Characters

Lyca and Vala effectively utilize the crucial Haste stat. Antandra is a solid alternative tank to Thoran. Viperian, excelling with energy-draining and AoE attacks, complements Thoran and Cecia. Alsa, a strong DPS mage, is a viable alternative to Carolina in PvP, particularly with Eironn. Phraesto, a durable tank, lacks damage output. Ludovic is a strong Graveborn healer, particularly effective with Talene. Cecia, while a good Marksman, has decreased in value due to meta shifts. Sonja significantly enhances the Lightborne faction with respectable damage and utility.

B-Tier Characters

B-Tier characters are suitable for filling roles but are outclassed by higher-tier options. Valen and Brutus are strong early-game DPS choices. Granny Dahnie provides decent tanking, debuffs, and healing. Arden and Damien are PvP meta staples but less effective in other modes. Florabelle is a decent secondary DPS, but requires significant investment. Soren performs adequately in PvP but lacks in other modes. Korin's effectiveness in Dream Realm has diminished.

C-Tier Characters

C-Tier characters are quickly outclassed in the late game. Parisa, while offering early-game crowd control, should be replaced as soon as possible. These characters are generally best replaced with higher-tier alternatives.
