AGDQ 2025 Raises Over $2.5 Million For Charity

Awesome Games Done Quick 2025 surpasses fundraising goals, raising over $2.5 million for cancer prevention.

The Awesome Games Done Quick (AGDQ) 2025 event, held from January 5th to 13th, successfully raised over $2.5 million for the Prevent Cancer Foundation (PCF). This impressive total exceeded the 2024 event's figure by over $100,000. The event featured speedruns of various games, including popular titles like Crazy Taxi and Super Metroid.

AGDQ, a prominent annual winter event, is one of two major Games Done Quick (GDQ) marathons held yearly, complemented by the Summer Games Done Quick in July. GDQ also organizes smaller events throughout the year. Noteworthy is the October 2024 Disaster Relief Done Quick, which raised over $45,000 for Direct Relief following Hurricane Helene.

The AGDQ 2025 event in Pittsburgh began with a Pikmin speedrun and showcased a diverse range of games. The PCF, the beneficiary of the fundraising, focuses on early cancer detection, prevention, research, and public awareness programs. This collaboration between GDQ and PCF has a long history, with over $26 million raised for the foundation through various GDQ events.

A standout moment was a creative Crazy Taxi speedrun by Chuckles825, featuring a live band performing the game's music to circumvent copyright restrictions. This 18-minute run generated over $24,000 in donations. The event concluded with a thrilling four-player Super Metroid race.

Looking ahead, GDQ will host Summer Games Done Quick 2025 in Minneapolis from July 6th, supporting Doctors Without Borders.
