Alienware's Area-51 Now Supports RTX 5090 Graphics Card
Dell has recently expanded the legendary Alienware Area-51 lineup of prebuilt gaming PCs, previously limited to one graphics card option - the RTX 5080. Now, gamers can configure their system with an Intel Core Ultra 9 285K CPU and the highly anticipated Nvidia GeForce RTX 5090 GPU, starting at $5,499.99. This upgrade comes with the added benefit of a swift delivery, with Dell estimating an early April ship date.

Priced at $5,499.99 at Alienware, this "base" configuration of the Alienware Area-51 gaming PC with an RTX 5090 GPU packs a punch. It features an Intel Core Ultra 9 285K CPU, 32GB of DDR5-6400MHz RAM, and a 2TB NVMe SSD. The Core Ultra 9 285K, Intel's latest flagship CPU, offers impressive performance for both workstation and gaming tasks. While it may not surpass the i9-14900K, it remains the top choice from Intel. The system is cooled by a robust 360mm all-in-one liquid cooler and powered by a 1,500W 80Plus Platinum-rated power supply.
New for 2025: The Alienware Area-51 Chassis
Dell unveiled the revamped Alienware Area-51 gaming PC at CES 2025. The new chassis retains a similar aesthetic to the 2024 R16 model but includes significant redesigns for cooling and component upgrades. The I/O panel has been moved to the top of the case, and the tempered glass window now spans the entire side panel, eliminating the need for side panel vents. Instead, air intakes are located at the bottom and front, promoting a positive airflow design for a cleaner interior. The internal components have been updated with a new motherboard, faster RAM, and a more powerful power supply to support the latest CPUs and GPUs.
The RTX 5090 Is the Most Powerful Graphics Card Ever
The Nvidia GeForce RTX 5090 stands as the most powerful consumer GPU available. Despite Nvidia's focus on software updates, AI features, and DLSS 4 technology to enhance gameplay, the RTX 5090 offers a significant 25%-30% performance increase over the RTX 4090 in terms of raw raster performance. Additionally, it comes with more (32GB vs 24GB) and faster (GDDR7 vs GDDR6) VRAM. Due to high demand, the RTX 5090 is hard to find at retail prices, often selling for $3,500-$4,000 on eBay.
Nvidia GeForce RTX 5090 FE Review by Jackie Thomas
"The Nvidia GeForce RTX 5090 has officially surpassed the RTX 4090 in performance, albeit with a less dramatic leap than previous generations. In traditional non-AI gaming, the RTX 5090 offers one of the smallest generational uplifts we've seen recently. However, in games that support DLSS 4, the performance gains are substantial, albeit with 75% of the frames being AI-generated."
