"Amazon's God of War TV Series Greenlit for Season 2 Before Premiere"
Amazon's God of War TV series, although yet to premiere, is already set for a promising run with two seasons confirmed, as announced by showrunner Ronald D. Moore. Moore stepped in to lead the project following the exit of previous showrunner Rafe Judkins and executive producers Hawk Ostby and Mark Fergus. In a recent chat with Katee Sackhoff, a fellow alum from the iconic series Battlestar Galactica, Moore shared insights into his latest venture.
"Right now, I'm working on an adaptation of a video game called God of War, a big title in the gaming world that Amazon has ordered two seasons of and they've asked me to come in," Moore revealed. "So I'm literally in the writer's room, working on that. That's my new thing."
Despite not being a dedicated gamer, Moore has dabbled in classic arcade games like Defender, Asteroids, and Centipede. He humorously recounted his struggles with modern gaming controllers: "'Press R1.' Which one's R1? Oh, I'm dead," he quipped.
Moore's role in the God of War series extends beyond writing; he also serves as an executive producer and showrunner. His impressive resume includes work on Star Trek: The Next Generation, Deep Space Nine, and the critically acclaimed 2000s revival of Battlestar Galactica.
While the departure of some key members of the original team marked a transition, Sony's Cory Barlog remains an executive producer, ensuring continuity with the source material. The series is set to draw from the acclaimed 2018 God of War game.
Amazon's swift renewals of other video game adaptations, such as the Fallout TV show and Secret Level, suggest a bright future for God of War on the streaming platform. This early commitment to multiple seasons reflects high expectations and confidence in the project's potential success.
