Call of Duty: Warzone Experiencing Lobby Crashing Issue
Call of Duty: Warzone players are experiencing game freezes and crashes during loading screens, sometimes resulting in unfair penalties. While a permanent fix is still under development, developers have implemented a temporary solution.
A recent update addresses the issue of unwarranted penalties. Players who disconnect before joining a Ranked match will no longer face Skill Rating deductions or timeouts. This interim fix comes after widespread player complaints about penalties stemming from the persistent loading screen bug.
This latest problem adds to a string of recent challenges for Warzone. Following a December 2024 matchmaking outage caused by an accidental update, and ongoing reports of cheating and other bugs, this new glitch further impacts player experience. The bug, first reported on January 6th, remains unresolved according to the official Trello board, despite the developers' efforts.
Developer Response and Mitigation
The temporary suspension of penalties aims to alleviate the frustration caused by involuntary disconnections. While unintentional early departures are now penalty-free, players who leave matches mid-game will still receive penalties. This approach attempts to balance fairness for both those affected by the bug and those who intentionally leave matches.
Despite the temporary fix, the ongoing presence of bugs, even after a major January 2025 update, remains a concern for players. Disruptions to Ranked play, regardless of cause, always generate significant player feedback. The Warzone development team is actively working to address these issues, and players eagerly await a complete resolution.
