Executive producer Malgorzata Mitrega explains that Geralt's story arc concluded in The Witcher 3, leaving Ciri, a richly developed character in both books and games, as the ideal protagonist for a new chapter. This shift, discussed internally for nearly a decade, represents a natural evolution of the series.

Mitrega highlights Ciri's untapped potential for innovative storytelling, while director Sebastian Kalemba emphasizes the creative freedom afforded by her younger age, contrasting with the established Geralt.
