Classic DOOM and DOOM 2 Updated

While eagerly anticipating the release of *DOOM: The Dark Ages*, many fans have turned their attention back to the classics, revisiting the original *DOOM* games. In exciting news for these enthusiasts, the developers have not only resumed their work but have also rolled out a significant update for the *DOOM + DOOM 2* compilation. This update focuses on enhancing the technical aspects of the games, ensuring a smoother and more engaging experience for players.

One of the standout features of this update is the improved support for multiplayer modifications. Mods crafted using Vanilla DOOM, DeHackEd, MBF21, or BOOM are now compatible, opening up a world of possibilities for creative gamers. In cooperative play, players can now pick up items, enhancing teamwork and strategy. Additionally, an observer mode has been added, allowing players to stay engaged even when they're waiting to be revived. The multiplayer network code has been optimized for better performance, and the mod loader now supports handling more than the first 100+ mods a player subscribes to, making it easier to enjoy a vast array of custom content.

As for the much-anticipated *DOOM: The Dark Ages*, the developers are committed to making the game as accessible as possible. Players will have the option to adjust the aggression levels of demons in the game settings, tailoring the experience to their preferred level of challenge. Executive producer Marty Stratton emphasized that the aim is to provide extensive customization options, surpassing those of previous id Software projects.

In *DOOM: The Dark Ages*, players will have the flexibility to modify various aspects of the game, including enemy damage, difficulty, projectile speed, and the amount of damage they take. Other customizable elements include the game's tempo, level of aggression, and parry timing. Stratton also assured fans that prior knowledge of *DOOM: The Dark Ages* is not necessary to understand the narratives of both *DOOM: The Dark Ages* and *DOOM: Eternal*, ensuring that new players can jump right into the action without feeling left behind.
