Don't Starve Together's Mobile Debut: No Netflix, But Still Coming to iOS and Android

Following a prolonged silence since the June 2024 announcement of Don't Starve Together's arrival on Netflix Games, we have an update. The game will not be coming to Netflix, but the good news is that it's still launching on mobile devices.

Playdigious and Klei Entertainment are collaborating to bring Don't Starve Together to iOS and Android. This Tim Burton-esque survival game challenges players to gather resources and survive as quirky characters on a hostile island. The core objective remains: don't starve!

Initially planned as a Netflix Games exclusive, Don't Starve Together will now have a global release on both the iOS App Store and Google Play. While a precise launch date is unavailable, Klei and Playdigious assure us an announcement is forthcoming.

Netflix Deal Falls Through

It appears Don't Starve Together's exclusivity agreement with Netflix has ended. While the global mobile release is positive, this development, along with other indie title cancellations on the platform (like Shovel Knight Pocket Dungeon), raises questions about Netflix Games' future commitment to indie developers.

Don't Starve's significant popularity and iconic status in the survival genre make its departure noteworthy. This raises concerns about the prospects for other indie games on the platform. Netflix's indie game selection has been a major draw, and this shift is regrettable.
