Dragon Age The Veilguard game director leaves BioWare, players expect studio to shut down
The success of Dragon Age: The Veilguard is undeniable, yet recent news surrounding BioWare casts a shadow. Rumors, originating from sources described as "agenda fighters," have spread online concerning the potential closure of BioWare Edmonton and the departure of The Veilguard's game director.
Eurogamer journalists lend credence to at least part of these rumors, confirming the departure of Corinne Boucher in the coming weeks. Boucher, an 18-year EA veteran, has primarily worked on The Sims franchise.
However, Eurogamer remains uncertain about the rumored closure of BioWare's Dragon Age development team, classifying it as pure speculation.
Critical reception of The Veilguard is mixed. While some hail it as a triumphant return to form, others view it as a solid, albeit unremarkable, RPG. At the time of this writing, Metacritic shows no overwhelmingly negative reviews.
Many reviewers lauded the game's dynamic and engaging action RPG gameplay, particularly challenging at higher difficulty levels. Yet, this praise isn't universal. VGC, for example, criticized the gameplay as feeling outdated and lacking innovation.
