"Open Drive: Steer Cars with Eye Control Now in Early Android Access"

If you're looking for a mobile racing game that's more than just fast cars and open roads, Open Drive is here to change the game. Developed by SpecialEffect in collaboration with Sun & Moon Studios, this innovative title is now available in early access on Android—and it’s not just another racing app. It's an inclusive experience designed for everyone, regardless of physical ability.

What Makes Open Drive Unique?

From the ground up, Open Drive was built with flexibility at its core. Whether you prefer touch controls, keyboard and mouse, switch access, or a traditional controller, the game adapts to your preferred method of play. And for players who rely on alternative input methods, Open Drive offers full support for eye gaze technology—making it one of the first mobile games to offer such functionality.

With a compatible eye-tracking camera, players can steer simply by looking left or right. This groundbreaking feature opens the door for physically disabled gamers who often find themselves excluded from mainstream mobile titles limited to touch or controller inputs. The eye control system works across all four open worlds: Stunt, Speed, Snow, and Meadow.

How Does It Play?

The gameplay is as customizable as the controls. Want to take it easy and explore the vast environments while collecting orbs? Go ahead. Or, if you're feeling competitive, chase high scores and pull off wild stunts using vehicles like the Roadster, Trickster, or Speedster. You can even adjust the speed settings to match your comfort level and skill.

Early Access Availability

One of the standout features of Open Drive is its intelligent auto-detection system—it identifies your current control method and adjusts accordingly. Switch Access on Android is fully supported, and each input type has its own tailored setup.

Touch controls come in two flavors: ‘Precise’ mode for fine steering adjustments, and ‘Classic’ mode for directional taps. Similarly, there are dedicated configurations for mouse, keyboard, switch access, and Android-compatible controllers or gamepads.

Currently available in early access on Android, the full version of Open Drive, including full eye control functionality, is expected to launch this summer—and it’ll be free to download. If you're curious, head over to the Google Play Store to give it a try today.
