FF7 Remake Part 3 Will Again Release on PS5 First, Other Platforms Later
FF7 Remake Part 3: PS5 Launch Confirmed, Multi-Platform Release Planned
The highly anticipated final installment of the FF7 Remake trilogy will debut on the PlayStation 5, according to producers Yoshinori Kitase and director Naoki Hamaguchi. This confirmation, shared during a January 23, 2025 interview with 4Gamer, alleviates concerns among PlayStation fans following the staggered releases of previous installments.
Release Date and Development Progress:
While Square Enix remains tight-lipped on a specific release date, Hamaguchi offered positive news during a January 23, 2025 Famitsu interview, stating development is progressing smoothly and on schedule. A key milestone was reached by the end of 2024, solidifying the game's direction. Kitase also confirmed the story's completion and expressed confidence in its satisfying conclusion for fans.
Timed Exclusivity Expected:
A March 6, 2024 Washington Post report suggests PlayStation secured timed exclusivity for the entire FF7 Remake trilogy. Following the precedent set by previous games (one-year exclusivity for FF7 Remake on PS4, six months for FF7 Remake Intergrade on PS5, and timed exclusivity for FF7 Rebirth), Part 3 is anticipated to launch exclusively on PS5 before releasing on other platforms.
Square Enix's Multi-Platform Shift:
Despite the success of the FF7 Remake series, Square Enix's March 31, 2024 financial report revealed declining sales in its HD titles. In response, the company announced a strategic shift towards a multi-platform approach, encompassing Nintendo, PlayStation, Xbox, and PC platforms. This suggests that while Part 3 will initially launch on PS5, a wider release across multiple consoles and PC is likely to follow.
